It started raining and we went for cover under the trees and ended up meeting a bunch of youth standing nearby... had some interesting conversations about God with them.... so amazing how there are no coincidences with God and how He has a reason for everything... including the rainy weather that we had ) So thankful to God for such an amazing, friendly team that i can be a part of and serve Him with... ) "

Всегда сложно начинать служение на новом месте. Впервые команда «Избери Жизнь» проводила служение в Костроме. Практически на всю неделю передавали дождь, но в тех поселках и частях города, где мы проводили служение – дождя не было. Утро начинали с социального служения. Команда из 10 человек ездила в интернат, который находился в ближайшем поселке, и производила ремонт внутри помещения. В это время некоторые из членов команды могли общаться с интернатовскими детьми, которых было немного. Директор интерната всем в округе хвалится тем, что баптисты ей помогли с ремонтом.
Вторая половина дня – служение во втором интернате. С 15:00 до 17:00 мы проводили игры и библейские уроки для детей. На третий день нас попросили больше не появляться. Руководству не понравилось то, что мы учим с детьми стихи из Библии. Но уже на следующий день нас снова позвали. В этот раз мы проводили библейский урок на территории местной школы, и на уроке присутствовали и другие дети, родители которых наблюдали со стороны и говорили: «Очень радует то, что можем что-то такое увидеть наяву, а не только по телевизору».
После этого мы посещали одну большую цыганскую семью и проводили с ними общение, пели песни, читали Слово Божие.
По вечерам, с 20:30 вместе с местной молодежью мы ходили в город. Молодежь практиковалась в личном благовести. В завершении дня все делились тем, у кого как получалось благовествовать, какие были трудности и благословения. Для некоторых это был первый опыт.
Приятно было то, что в этом году местная молодежь активно подключилась к служению.

the week is coming to a close, and the team is exhausted.
//in the mornings we go to an orphanage/internat where we do remont/construction as well as talk to the handful of older kids there (mostly teenage girls, all of them have scars on their wrists from cutting, one attempted to run away and was caught and placed in a psihushka/psycho hospital). the physical work is hard as well as we do not have enough guys on the team//
//after lunch we have a kid's program in a different orphanage (this one is a temp place for kids, they stay there up to six months total and then go on to other places). although we try to make it fun for the kids you can see their sadness on their precious faces. some kids cry and ask why they are there, and where is their mom or grandma. yesterday we weren't allowed to go to this orphanage, the director got in trouble by another teacher in the building for allowing us to teach Bible verses. today we were let back in, praise God.//
//we visited a home of a gypsy family, 17 members total, already two times. they are not believers, but are very open to talk about God and faith. the mother, Zara, says that she prays to God every day for Him to help her quit smoking. Her husband, Arthur, smokes a lot as well, but says he has changed over the years with God, that he doesn't cuss as much now. there are four grandchildren in their care that they have to raise now--their 30something year old daughter ran off to marry another gypsy and left her kids.//
//in the evenings we have been hanging out in the local park downtown by the waterfront (Volga river). the local youth from the church have been joining us to sing Christian songs and do street evangelism. it seems like almost everyone who we have talked to is open to the gospel message. the harvest is plentiful and workers few. one young guy that we talked to was really interested in hearing what we had to say, but he was scared to accept it. I could really see the spiritual struggle for his soul going on in front of my eyes.. he said that he wants to accept the gospel but he's scared and how is it that everything that he has believed in up to this point (evolution, etc) is wrong.. it's as if his whole life is a lie.. he took a small new testament and a contact card of the church.//
